(1) System Engineer, DevOps - vCHS

The System Engineering team within the vCloud Hybrid Services (vCHS) group is looking for a System Engineer to help build, manage and support our global (India and US) labs environments.  These labs are used 24x7 by global teams of system test and development engineers to deploy and test all the code releases before sending it to the Operations team to install in Production sites.

Responsibilities:
*Build, manage and support the global engineering lab environments
*Collaborate with the Architecture, System Test, QA and Ops teams to maintain the labs infrastructure to the latest requirements

*Hands on implementation, maintaining, and troubleshooting of these complex environments

*Maintain documentation of the infrastructure and configurations
*Follow change management process

Required Skills:
*Solid experience with VMware products such as vSphere, vCenter, ESXi/ESX, vCD and vShield Manager

*Should have a deep understanding of virtualization concepts

*Experience supporting/managing mission critical 24x7 customer facing production environments

*Experience with networking technologies (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers), strongly desired

*Great system administration skills – Linux, DNS, SMTP, VPN, TCP/IP, SNMP, LDAP, and HTTP/HTTPS

*Strong knowledge and experience in scripting (Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell) and automation will be a huge plus.

*Hands on experience with automated deployment and configuration tools like Puppet or Chef is also desired
*Ability to span and focus on multiple projects, without requiring micro management

*Capable of preparing detailed build / test plans to implement new technologies/configurations

*Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

*B.S./B.A. degree or equivalent technical training

Job Description
The Cloud Infrastructure and Services group develops products that focus on building world class platforms and solutions to facilitate adoption of private and public cloud computing. We are a rapidly growing team and are looking for an experienced storage system engineer to provide architectural oversight and technical guidance to review the designs , build out and test our Software Defined Data Center( SDDC ) based cloud offerings , especially the storage , backup and recovery stack. We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on engineer , a Subject Matter Expertize in storage , backup and recovery areas capable of leading end to end storage system testing activities for our system engineering team. The ideal candidate for this role is someone with strong storage , backup and recovery knowledge focused on cloud and data center level of storage and DR solutions build out and end to end testing. The candidate should have a good understanding of the cloud deployments and should be some one already provided storage solutions to enterprises and cloud service providers. In this role you will be one of our key technical system test owner and driver of the system integration and testing efforts for our private , public and hybrid cloud offerings.

Responsibilities:
• Work with our core architects to review the storage and DR/BR designs , build out the designs in system engineering lab and test it from an end to end system testing perspective for our One Cloud initiative.
• Plans and leads all storage and BR/DR aspects of vCloud Hybrid Service stack , using the Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) based cloud offering build out.
• Maintain current hands-on knowledge of the VMware product line, specifically: vCloud Suite and Software Defined Storage (SDS).
• Work in a system engineering team to accomplish end-to-end integration test execution of an entire product suite & solutions
• Study end to end customer work flow and design use cases that ensures product interoperability & compatibility of vCloud Hybrid Service(vCHS) 
• Lead a small team of Storage and BR/DR system engineers and work with cross functional teams to meet the project deliverable

Requirements:

- You must have extensive experience in building and testing Cloud Service Provider infrastructure using VMware product line, specifically: vSphere and vCloud Suite products.
- Deep expertise in designing, building, testing , operating, and troubleshooting storage solutions in a service provider environment.
- Expertise in configuring and managing EMC VNX storage and Avamar backup solutions.
- 4+ years of storage design, build out, administration and testing experience in a Cloud Service Provider environment.
- 3+ years of experience with the cloud technologies – IaaS/ PaaS / SaaS
- BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required (MS preferred)
- Comfortable with standard engineering practices (SCM, Agile Development, Continuous integration..)
- Must be able to setup test bed involving Windows, Linux OS setup, Application server setup, DB setup(SQL, Oracle), PXE,DHCP,DNS,AD server setup, FC/iSCSI/NAS server setup and be able to troubleshoot and debug issues
- Good knowledge in enterprise storage and BR/DR solutions design/test/administration including configuring and managing the physical and virtual switches , Good understanding of storage protocols and new trends in storage such as Software Defined storage ( SDS)
- Good understanding of enterprise backup and Recovery (BR) , Disaster Recovery ( DR) solutions build outs and understanding of de-duplication , change block tracking , snapshot technology etc ….
- Good understanding of the Linux administration, internals of operating system, device drivers , file systems.
- Technical team leadership experience required.
- Working experience in TCL/Java/Perl or Python for test case automation/execution
- Strong understanding of data center and cloud service provider designs and troubleshooting techniques.
- Candidate should have strong analytical and communication skills, and is a strong self-starter with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience automating VMware product configurations using PowerCLI or any other scripting/programming languages.
